On August 6, the RA National Gallery hosted opening of famous Armenian artist Harutyun Kalents’ personal exhibition dedicated to his 100th anniversary. “Harutyun Kalents’ life was wonderful and complicated at the same time,” said Alice Nersisyan, author of an article published in the book.

Chairman of the RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan and Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan also were present at the event.

“Harutyun Kalents is a great artist, and the fact that the opening ceremony of the exhibition brought together many people indicates Armenians’ attitude towards him,” Hovik Abrahamyan told journalists. He added that all Armenian artists, art critics and specialists like Kalents’ pictures, “as he is a great figure for our people.”

According to Abrahamyan, the state should assist Kalents’ family in every possible way to completely present Kalents’ art to the Armenian society.

An exhibition of Harutyun Kalents’ pictures of the Lebanese period is envisaged to be held in Beirut, where the artist lived up to the age of 19.
