Nalbandian beats Granollers in Open Sud de France round 1

Eighth seeded Argentine David Nalbandian defeated Spain’s Marcel Granollers 6-4, 6-4 to book his place in the second round of Open Sud de France.

Fifth seeded John Isner edged past French wild card Benoit Paire 7-5, 6-2. The American fired 10 aces to set up next round clash with another Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, who arrowed 15 aces to down Slovakian Lukas Lacko 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4.

Taylor Dent of America overcame first set deficit to beat Romain Jouan of France 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4.

In other matches of the day, German qualifier Mischa Zverev scored a 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5) win over Dutchman Robin Haase, Belgian Steve Darcis ousted Argentine Eduardo Schwank 6-2, 7-5.

2009 runner-up Michael Llodra moved ahead when Belgium's Olivier Rochus retired midway with a right leg injury while trailing 3-2 in the opening set, tennisearth.com reported.
