Azerbaijan decides to restore Armenian church

An Armenian church is being restored in Baku, according to director of the Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation.

Stepan Grigoryan, who was in Baku on December 1-3 to attend a conference on South Caucasus issues, said the church is in a good condition and is not damaged much.

The expert said the church is guarded and restoration works are under control of the Azerbaijani government.

“I think it’s a positive step,” Grigoryan said.

Asked by a PanARMENIAN.Net for whom the church is being restored if there are no Armenians in Azerbaijan, he voiced confidence that the “return of Armenian refugees will be discussed after resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.”
