In remembrance of Ambassador Holbrooke, a condolence book will be available for signing at the U.S. Embassy Yerevan on Thursday and Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Ambassador Holbrooke was one of the top-ranking American diplomats and a true champion of peace, who negotiated peace in Bosnia.

On January 22, 2009, Holbrooke was appointed as a special adviser on Pakistan and Afghanistan, working under President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He served until his death on December 13, 2010. President Obama described Ambassador Holbrooke as “a truly unique figure who will be remembered for his tireless diplomacy, love of country, and pursuit of peace.” According to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, “America has lost one of its fiercest champions and most dedicated public servants”, the press service of the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan reported.
