Junior middleweight prospect Erislandy Lara (15-0, 10KOs) is looking to fight any of the top names at 154-pounds.
A few months ago Lara traded words with another unbeaten, Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17KOs). The fight never happened, but Lara said that he would still fight Vanes, BoxingScene.com reports.
"Vanes obviously didn't want to jump on the highway and we're going to keep riding on the highway. If he wants to jump in, we're think it's a great fight that HBO would buy, we'll fight or else we'll move. Vanes has been a pro for like six years and he still hasn't fought for a world title. We'll fight him tomorrow if we have to," Lara said.
If Lara doesn't get a shot at Vanes, there is some discussions about possibly targeting the winner of Rigoberto Alvarez-Austin Trout, which takes place for the vacant WBA "regular title at 154-pounds on January 29.
"I just want to be a world champ. It's what I came to this country for and if this is my opportunity, I'm going to take advantage of it," Lara said.
