ARMENIA WILL KEEP NAGORNO KARABAKH UNDER ITS CONTROL, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL WRITES
YEREVAN, May 17. /Mediamax/. The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, under domestic and outside pressure, seem nearer than ever to a peace agreement in their territorial dispute. An accord could remove a key peril to Caspian Sea oil development, The Wall Street Journal writes today.
According to details leaked from the last two rounds of talks, Armenia would keep Nagorno-Karabakh under its control but withdraw from much of the rest of the occupied territory. It would also keep a corridor linking Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia proper. Azerbaijan would obtain a corridor to an isolated Azerbaijan region called Nakhichevan, The Wall Street Journal says. --0--
