HEAD OF TERRORISTS SAYS HE WANTED TO ACHIEVE THE RESIGNATION OF THE ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT
YEREVAN, May 4. /Mediamax/. Nairi Hunanian - the main accused of the case of the terrorist act of 27 October 1999 in the Armenian Parliament, said today at the court session that in 1999 he finally came to the conclusion that "Armenia is on the way to inevitable fall".
According to him, realizing all the threats of such a development of events, he began to think of "rebellion". Initially, Hunanian said, I was going to take the building of the government, to demand from the Prime Minister to be on the air, "to invite people to the square and to achieve the resignation of the cabinet of ministers".
Later on, however, Hunanian decided to take the building of the National Assembly. He said he took this decision because on Wednesdays, there are mobile TV-stations at the parliament building, recording the questions of the deputies to the members of the Government, and this would have made it easier for him be on the air. Besides, Hunanian said, to carry through weapon into the building of the parliament would have been much easier than into the government building.
The main accused of the case continues to testify.
The victims of the terrorist act of 27 October 1999, perpetrated by Hunanian and his accomplices, became the speaker, two vice-speakers, Prime Minister and 4 deputies and members of the Government of Armenia. --0--
