Armenian church to be built in Baghdad

The Mayoralty of Baghdad decided to allocate a plot to establish an Armenian church in the capital, according to an official statement.

“Baghdad Mayor Saber al-Issawi received Head of the Armenian Community in Iraq Archbishop Avak Asadourian, and gave instructions to choose an appropriate land to set up a church as part of the mayoralty’s support to all sects in Iraq,” said the statement obtained by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The archbishop expressed his gratitude to al-Issawi for his decision.
