Armenian bloggers demand liberation of Javakhk activist Vahagn Chakhalyan

A group of Armenian bloggers launched a signature-gathering campaign 1000 days into the arrest of Javakhk politician Vahagn Chakhalyan.

A petition addressed to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed that Georgian authorities hardened their policy towards Armenian population of the country, specifically Javakhk Armenians.

Those undersigned demanded immediate liberation of Vahagh Chakhalyan, non-prosecution of Armenian activists, provision of legal status to the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, lifting the ban on the import of Armenian-language literature and media and allowing the entrance of Armenian politicians in charge of Javakhk issues in the territory of Georgia, javakhk.net reported.
