Four citizens of Georgia died in Congo in a crash of Airzena Georgian Airways’ aircraft, which served the UN mission in that country, Rustavi-2 Georgian TV company reported on April 5.

Pilot David Tsutskiridze, member of the crew Guram Kepuladze and technician Albert Manukov have been identified among those killed in the crash. Identification of the aircraft captain, Alexey Hovhannisyan is carried out.

According to Rustavi-2, all 33 people on board of the plane – citizens of various countries, including Russia and Kazakhstan, have died.

Spokesperson for Airzena air company Nino Giorgobiani confirmed the fact of the airplane crash earlier. “Because of heavy rain and wind, the aircraft struck the runway, broke up and caught fire while landing,” she said.

According to Giorgobiani, only bad weather could serve as a reason for the catastrophe. “We have been serving the UN mission for three years, and the aircraft underwent the last inspection on December 22. It had no problems,” she said.
