Russia had a chance to interfere with Karabakh conflict, yet the country missed it at the very outbreak, according to Alexei Vlasov, director-general of Informational-analytical center at Moscow State University.

As the expert noted, recent events in Libya constitute a deliberate extermination of the country’s political elite led by Gaddafi. “To stay away from it would mean to stay away from decisions a civilized society has to make. Even if Russia attempted to solve Karabakh conflict the way Libya issue is being resolved at the moment, we’d fail for one simple reason: the non-regional players would not allow Russia a free rein.”

As he noted, should Russia initiate implementation of strict measures stipulated by UN Security Council in Karabakh, it wouldn’t have been supported by the countries who are at present actively protesting Gaddafi regime, Salam News reported.
