Heritage: political situation in Armenia excludes repetition of March 1, 2008, events

Vice chairman of Heritage party Ruben Hakobyan said the current political situation in Armenia, specifically, the dynamics of relations between the authorities and Armenian National Congress (ANC), excludes the repetition of March 1, 2008, events in practice.

The previous policy of ANC was leading to a deadlock; it could result in a new “March 1,” Hakobyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He noted that Armenia now faces three main problems – the Karabakh conflict settlement, Armenian-Turkish normalization and difficult social and economic situation in the country. According to Hakobyan, unification of the entire society is needed to solve them.

As for the dialogue between the authorities and ANC, Hakobyan hailed it, adding he is not sure it will be beneficial for the state and people.

He recalled that in the mean time ANC used to criticize those opposition forces, which stood for dialogue with the authorities, but now it supports the dialogue.
