World Bank Yerevan Office announces essay competition winners

The World Bank Yerevan Office announces the results of the nation-wide essay competition for students held in the period of February 1 - March 10, 2011. The results of the competition are the following:

Topic 1: What should the Armenian Government do to overcome the adverse effects of the recent economic crisis? 1st prize winners are Armine Babakhanyan, Evelina Beknazaryan, and Venera Martirosyan (American University of Armenia, Business Administration, 2nd year Masters); 2nd prize winner is Manuk Khudoyan (Armenia State University of Economics, Finance, 2nd year Masters); 3rd prize winner is Roland Avoyan (French University of Armenia, Law, 2nd year Bachelors); 4th prize winner is Narine Darbinyan (Armenia State University of Economics, Finance, 1st year Master’s).

Encouragement award went to Satenik Martirosyan (Gavar State University, Economics, 3rd year Bachelors).

Topic 2: What is the value of forests in Armenia? 3rd prize winners are Armine Asatryan (Gavar State University, Economics, 2nd year Bachelors), and Levon Ghukasyan (National Academy of Sciences, International Center for Science and Education, Medical Chemistry, 1st year Masters); 4th prize winners are Satine Smbatyan (Yerevan State University, Romano-Germanic department, 4th year Bachelors) and Anna Hayrapetyan (Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov, International Relations, 1st year Masters).

Encouragement awards went to Hrant Hovhannisyan (Agribusiness Teaching Center, Agribusiness, 1st year Masters), and Tatevik Igityan (French University of Armenia, Law, 3rd year Bachelors).

The selection committee has not granted first and second awards on the forests topic as the submitted essays did not meet high standards for content and quality, the WB Yerevan office said in a press release.
