The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is not concerned over the intention of Prosperous Armenia coalition party to present a separate candidates list at the 2012 parliamentary election.
At a news conference in Yerevan, RPA member Hovhannes Sahakyan urged media against ascribing hidden motives to the decision.
According to him, the possibility of presenting a joint RPA-Orinats Yerkir candidates list has not been discussed yet. “Armenian media tends to focus on coalition parties' unifying on the threshold of the elections, and pay much less attention to the unions formed by the opposition,” he noted with a smile.
Sahakyan commented on the recent statement by New Times party leader Aram Karapetyan, suggesting the possibility of a union between RPA and ANC. According to RPA member, the issue was never discussed. In conclusion, Sahakyan recommended against commenting on unconfirmed allegations.
