According to amendments to the law on the 2011 Azerbaijani state budget, the funds envisaged under the state budget for defense expenditures will be increased by 39.7mln manat (3% growth) to total 1,364.8mln manat.

The bill envisaging the amendments reads that the additional funds will create opportunities to strengthen social protection of servicemen and civil employees of the armed forces, improve their living standards, meet military-economic and military-technical needs and ensure sustainable financing for development of military infrastructure’s facilities on the country’s territory.

The bill will be offered for discussion during a plenary session of the Azerbaijani parliament (Milli Mejlis) due May 27, Trend reported.
