Armenian, Georgian Churches to form committees to settle current issues

Armenian and Georgian Churches will form committees to settle current issues between the churches of the two countries.

The agreement was reached during a Tbilisi-hosted closed meeting between All Armenian Catholicos Karekin II and Catholicos- Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

At the meeting the parties discussed legal status of the Georgian and Armenian churches and ways for settlement of disputable issues.

Karekin II touched upon the provision of a legal status to Armenian Church in Georgia; Ilia II, in turn, dwelled on the return of Georgian churches in Armenia.

The parties agreed to form relevant committees in charge of the issues, Georgia Online reported.
