NKR FOREIGN MINISTER ASSERTS CHECHENS INHABIT SHAHUMIAN REGION
29.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The Foreign Minister of NKR Naira Melkumian stated at a press conference in Stepanakert that official Baku tries to veil real facts which state about the settling of Chechens in NKR Shahumian region, occupied by Azerbaijan.
N. Melkumian stated that the unsubstantiated accusations of Azeri Foreign Minister, that Armenia settles the "occupied territories" with Kurds and representatives of other nationalities from Middle East, are conditioned by this very aspiration, Mediamax correspondent reports.
On November 22 Armenian political expert Igor Muradian stated that the Chechen fighters founded their military camps in 3 villages of NKR Shahumian region, occupied by Azerbaijan, in Sadarak village of Nakhichevan Autonomous republic as well as in Armenian Artsvashen village, also controlled by Azerbaijan. -0-
