Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called Armenia’s actions inconceivable.
As Azerbaijani leader stated during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, for 20 years, Armenia’s been unwilling to change the status quo.
According to Aliyev, at Sochi-hosted meeting, initiated by Russian president in January 2011, Azerbaijan “unequivocally” accepted Madrid principles, yet Armenia tries to avoid accepting them by all means, with Azeri side, however, showing constructive approach.
Without missing a chance, Azeri president said that “one of the main reasons of the international union’s activation in recent years is the existence of Azerbaijani state and army”, APA reported.
At June 24 meeting in Kazan, the Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia failed to sign an agreement on basic principles of Karabakh conflict settlement. As Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian noted later, despite the OSCE MG co-chairs’ efforts, Azerbaijan was not ready to accept the final version of basic principles, presenting ten new amendments at the last moment.
