Armenian Foreign Minister to Azerbaijan: We can also go back to older regulations of Karabakh settlement

In contrast to Azerbaijan, we never in vain voice criticism against OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs because we must value the conditions on Karabakh conflict peaceful resolution offered by the three permanent members of the Security Council, said Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

According to Nalbandian it matters how the parties treat the proposals offered by the mediators. Azerbaijan's ideas concerning shifting to reaching a fundamental agreement "without agreeing" on the principles does not meet the logics of the settlement process, the position voiced by the Co-chairs.

Without agreeing on the principles how can we prepare the text of the agreement? The impression is that Azeris simply don't want to reach an agreement on the basis offered by the countries co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group", stressed minister Nalbandian. He also noted that despite fact that the presidential meeting in Kazan was not a breakthrough, the process continues. There is no alternative to the negotiation process.

“We express readiness to accept the proposals in Kazan, and go ahead if Azerbaijan withdraws its ten new objections. It is impossible to take part in ten meetings on presidential and ministerial level and state the necessity of returning to previous regulations. Pacta sund servant is one of the fundamental principles of international relations. Agreements reached should be respected. Otherwise you may lose trust not only from Armenian and Azerbaijani part, but also from the part of international community mediators”, states Armenian Foreign Minister.
