The UN General Assembly's First Committee on Disarmament and International Security approved a draft resolution on nuclear disarmament proposed by Iran.

The draft resolution was proposed by Iran's diplomatic mission at that UN General Assembly panel discussion on disarmament and international security.

The panel endorsed the resolution, titled 'Pursuing Implementation of Pledges Undertaken by member states in the NPT Review Conferences in 1995, 2000 and 2010' with 107 members votes in favor and 10 abstention.

The resolution was endorsed amid strong opposition by the United States, Israel and a number of western countries.

The resolution calls for accelerating adoption of necessary measures for the implementation of the member states' pledges about full dismantlement and annihilation of nuclear arsenals transparently, irreversibly and under international supervision, Fars News Agency reported.
