THE CONCEPT OF REGIONAL SECURITY CAN BE WORKED OUT ONLY UNDER THE AEGIS OF UN, DECLARED THE EX-COUNSELOR OF THE PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA ON FOREIGN POLICY
21.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "The West is interested in Armenia only from the point of realization of investments", declared today in the interview to MEDIAMAX the leader of the Democratic party, the ex-counselor of the president of Armenia on foreign policy, Aram Sarkisian.
According to Mr. Sarkisian, today an open struggle is going in the region between Russia, the USA, Iran and Europe. "The country, pursuing the most successful integration-investment policy, will be the winner", he said.
The ex-counselor also said that there exist many variants of establishing a regional security system. "To my mind, 1+3+2 formula (Russia, the three countries of the South Caucasus, Turkey and Iran) is the best one . But the concept of collective regional security can be worked out only under the aegis of UN", said Mr. Sarkisian. -0-
