Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Pope Benedict XVI on the sidelines of his visit to Vatican.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations.

Next, the Armenian leader met with Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone to discuss the role of high level visits in promotion of ties.

On the same day, the president visited the Armenian Catholic Church in Rome and St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican, presidential press service reported.
