STRATEGIC DIALOGUE BETWEEN ARMENIA AND US DEVELOPS
The relations of Armenia and the US with the countries of the South Caucasus, the CIS and Middle East, as well as topical problems of those regions were discussed today by participants of the recurrent sitting on Armenia-US strategic dialogue in Yerevan today. US deputy assistant secretary for European and Eurasian affairs Linn Pascoe, who had arrived in Armenia on a visit, represented the American party at the meeting. Having evaluated the present level of the Armenian-American relations as satisfactory, the parties also discussed the agenda of the military and political cooperation between the two countries and agreed to deepen it. They also exchanged views on such urgent international security problems as combating terrorism and non-proliferation of mass destruction weapons. It should be noted that since 1997 top officials of Armenia and the US meet once a year within the security dialogue format: to discuss issues of mutual interest. Since 2002 these meetings have been named "strategic dialogue."
