Solomon Islands join UN Convention against Corruption

Countries worldwide strengthen the fight against corruption, assuming international commitments in the field. On January 6, Solomon Islands declared joining the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), according to UN official website.

UNCAC is the first legally binding international anti-corruption instrument. It obliges its States Parties to implement a wide and detailed range of anti-corruption measures aiming to promote the prevention, criminalization and law enforcement, international cooperation, asset recovery, information exchange, and mechanisms for implementation.

The UNCAC was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on October 31, 2003, entering into force on December 14, 2005.
