NATO REPRESENTATIVE SAYS TALKS ABOUT SOUTH CAUCASIAN COUNTRIES ENTRY TO ALLIANCE PREMATURE UNLESS ALL REGIONAL CONFLICTS SETTLED
NATO expects the OSCE Minsk group to settle Nagorno Karabakh conflict thus allowing the North-Atlantic Alliance to establish close cooperation with Armenia and Azerbaijan. As reported by Mediamax agency, NATO press office representative Despina-Ino Aventuli stated addressing "NATO and prospects of security in Armenia" seminar held in Yerevan. Commenting on Georgia and Azerbaijan's wish to integrate into the NATO, he noted that it is premature to speak about such a possibility until the regional conflicts are not settled. At the same time Despina-Ino Aventuli emphasized that the NATO does not intend to duplicate the mediatorial missions provided with international mandate for the settlement of the conflicts available in the South Caucasus.
