SWISS PRESIDENT AND TURKISH PRIME MINISTER DISCUSSED ARMENIAN ISSUE IN DAVOS
The issue of recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire by the National assembly of Switzerland was touched upon during the meeting of Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Erdogan and Swiss President Josef Deiss that was held within the framework of the Davos forum. According to the Turkish sources, Switzerland's leader noted that in his opinion this issue should be considered by historians. With the words "Let bygones be bygones. We should look forward" Erdogan, in his turn, stated that as Armenians as Turks were killed during the events of 1915. The Swiss President has also raised the question of Armenia's blockade imposed by Turkey, in response to what Erdogan said that "Armenians doubt the legality of the Turkish borders as well as the existence of the Turkish republic itself, thus leaving no alternative to these actions".
