IN TUAPSE VERDICT BROUGHT IN TO MURDERERS OF ARMENIAN COMMUNITY CHAIRMAN
The murderers of chairman of Shahumian Armenian village of the Tuapse district of the Russian Krasnodar region Makar Kochian are sentenced to imprisonment from eight to ten years. The law-enforcement bodies detained the three suspects from neighboring Goryachy Klyuch village within two weeks after Kochian's corps was discovered in his own house upon being killed in July 2003. As reported by Yerkramas newspaper of Armenians of south of Russia, the criminals intended to rob the safe in Kochian's house, where they expected community money to be kept. As a local told the criminals, Kochian had collected some three thousand dollars from the village residents to set a cellular communication antenna in Shahumian. Having come to Kochian's house the malefactors killed him and took away the safe. However, there was no money. The fourth criminal, who according to the investigation materials organized the crime, is announced for federal search.
