3 die as blast hits Somali presidential compound

An explosion hit the presidential compound in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday, March 14, according to police and the African Union (AU).

Paddy Ankunda, spokesman for the AU's AMISOM force in Somalia, said the blast was near the speaker of parliament's house, which is inside the compound, and that three people had been killed.

Ankunda said they suspected the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device, Reuters reported.
