US TO PROVIDE OVER $1 MILLION TO ENHANCE PHYSICAL PROTECTION OF ANPP
The US Department of State will allocate over $1 million to enhance the physical protection of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). As ANPP Deputy Director General Mushegh Shahinian told Mediamax news agency today, the sum is being provided within the US Energy Ministry program for enhancement of the security of atomic stations in the post-Soviet space. The means will be spent on realization of a project of modernization of the system of physical protection of the station, planned in 2004-2005. The measures being undertaken are called to protect the ANPP against possible acts of terrorism and external interference.
