Right after founding PAN Photo back on May 1, 2009, we were trying to figure out what sort of pictures an Armenian agency should make and, most importantly, for whom. We could photograph government officials the way they never appear on TV; or capture the most diverse cultural events, trying to "convince" the society that our country does have a culture and cultural life; or perpetuate Armenia's beauty like it has never been done before. Or, we could skip the aforementioned and focus on discovering some never-before-seen corners and undetected events instead, like the Turkish-Armenian border in Margara or Ian Gillan's visit to Gyumri... We had a host of options. Anyway, as we’re looking at the most defining photos from 2009, we understand that we have shot everything we had imagined long before founding the photo agency.
