Russia is taking over the UN Security Council Presidency on Saturday, October 1, Novinite.com reports.

This month, the process of selecting a new UN Secretary General may end.

“The Council will go on working but it may also finish the process of preparing a proposal for the General Assembly regarding the nomination of a new UN Secretary General,” announced Russia’s Permanent Representative.

The first meeting of the council will be on October 3. On October 5, another round of voting for UN Secretary General will follow.
