A Kurdish community protest took place outside the UN office in Yerevan to mark the 26th anniversary of Abdullah Ocalan’s imprisonment.

Demonstrators claim that Ocalan’s conviction is baseless and urge the international community to address Turkey’s policies toward Kurds.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Turkey has the means to eliminate terrorism.

Revolutionary and political figure Abdullah Ocalan, founder and former leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), has been serving a life sentence since 1999. He is imprisoned on Imrali Island.
