Ombudsman's office on election-day alert![]() June 7, 2026 - 15:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 7, the day of the National Assembly elections, the staff of Armenia’s Human Rights Defender began work early in the morning, the Ombudsman’s Office said. Under the Defender’s instructions, an emergency-duty regime has been activated to ensure the immediate receipt, review and referral of complaints and reports related to election processes, as well as the effective protection of citizens’ electoral rights. The office’s 24-hour hotline also continues to operate under the emergency regime, providing citizens with consultations and necessary assistance regarding the exercise of their voting rights. Information published in mass media outlets and on social media platforms concerning human rights issues in the electoral process is also in focus and is being continuously monitored and reviewed. Citizens may submit complaints, reports and applications related to human rights issues during the electoral process through the Human Rights Defender’s hotline by calling 116 or (+374 96) 116 100. Regular National Assembly elections are underway in Armenia. The country’s 2,005 polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. The voter registry includes 2,485,851 registered voters. Polling stations will remain open until 8:00 p.m. A total of 18 political forces are participating in the parliamentary elections: two electoral alliances and 16 political parties. The electoral threshold is 4% for parties and 8% for alliances. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
