TURKEY DEMANDS CLOSING ARMENIAN NUCLEAR PLANT
Turkey has submitted an official statement to the European Union and the International Nuclear Energy Agency demanding the closing of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant "taking into account the danger the Armenian plant poses and its being situated in a seismic zone." In its turn The EU demanded that Armenia close the Nuclear Power Plant. Referring to the fact that the plant accounts for 30% of the electric energy being consumed in the country, Armenia stated it will function till 2016. Having considered the statement not satisfying, Turkey raised the issue in the International Nuclear Energy Agency. Noting that Turkey's concern is understood, the structure stated a wide auditing will be held over the matter.
