Armenia, Italy sign agreement on defense cooperation

Today, October 17, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and his Italian counterpart Giampaolo di Paola signed an intergovernmental agreement on defense cooperation.

Following the agreement signing ceremony, Minister Ohanyan called attention to cooperation in military education, in the framework of which Armenian soldiers may undergo training in Italian academies.

The agreement also envisages cooperation in military justice, defense and security, peacekeeping and humanitarian fields, as well as military medicine and defense industry.

Minister Ohanyan further stressed the importance of the Italian official’s visit to Yerevan, voicing hope for further deepening of defense cooperation.

Italian minister, in turn, noted that Italy cooperates with all the countries of the South Caucasus to contribute to establishment of peace in the region.
