Armenia posts 2,9% inflation rate in January

2.6% inflation rate was recorded in Armenia's consumer market in January 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the head of Price Statistics and International Comparisons Division of RA National Statistical Service said.

“During the reported period, prices for foodstuff (including alcoholic beverages and cigarettes) increased by 1,9%, non-foods’ prices increased by 6%, with 2,2% growth in tariffs for services posted,” Gurgen Martirosyan told Feb 1 press conference.

In January 2013, 2.9% inflation was reported in Armenia’s consumer market. Prices for foodstuff (including alcoholic beverages and cigarettes) increased by 4.9%, non-foods’ prices decreased by 0,2%, with 0,8% growth in tariffs for services posted.

Mr Martirosyan further noted that consumer prices increased by 2,2-3,5% in January 2013 as compared to December 2012 in all Armenian cities under study, while the highest index was registered in Vagharshapat.
