Turkish shepherd fired at Russian border guards: FSB

The frontier division of the Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) in Armenia is investigating the incident that took place Wednesday, July 31, at the Armenian-Turkish border.

According to preliminary data, shepherd identified as Mustafa Ulker, 35, crossed the Armenian border and fired shots at Russian frontier guards, who returned the fire, ITAR-TASS reports.

Meanwhile, according to Anadolu Agency, Ulker, who crossed the border to retrieve a lost sheep, was wounded and later died.

Russian troops protect the Armenian borders with Turley and Iran in compliance with the agreement concluded between Moscow and Yerevan in 1992.
