Azeri President Heydar Aliyev has confirmed his readiness to participate in the presidential elections in the country planned in October 2003. As reported by RIA "Novosti" agency, the President made a statement concerning it when addressing the jubilee congress of the ruling "New Azerbaijan" party. Heydar Aliyev expressed confidence that the people would vote for him. In their turn the delegates addressing the congress attributed the stability established in the country to the President's son, first deputy chairman of "New Azerbaijan" party Ilham Aliyev, also considering him as "the political heir of Heydar Aliyev."
