The Nagorno Karabakh conflict carries a potential for further escalation, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Germen Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Wednesday, June 29, according to Tert.am.

Steinmeier is due to arrive in Armenia Wednesday to tackle the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

“As the OSCE chairing country in 2016, Germany has the responsibility to ward off such a prospect as much as possible through ceasefire, confidence-building measures and a quick renewal of negotiations,” the top German diplomat said.

The same is true about territorial conflicts in Georgia, Steinmeier added.
