Armenians of Javakhk live on their land
Director of RA NAS Institute of History Ashot Melkonyan expressed his worries on regress of Armenian-Georgian relations.

He finds problem of Javakhk may become more complicated and that is why Armenia jointly with Georgian authorities has to solve employment issues and secure rights of Armenians of Javakhk.

"Regardless of Georgian resistance, finally it has to accept that Armenians live here on their land," said Ashot Melkonyan.

He also mentioned that although there were sad periods in history of Armenian-Georgian relations, the counties have all preconditions for better future.

The population of Samtskhe Javakheti region totals 238 thousand, 53% of which are Armenians. In Akhakalak and in Ninotsminda Armenians make 91.3% and 89.6% of the population respectively.
