Armenia extends refugee permits through end of 2026

According to Government Decision No. 1934‑N dated December 25, the duration of temporary protection status in Armenia has been extended until December 31, 2026. As a result, refugees holding temporary protection certificates may continue to use them if their documents contain a QR code, even if no expiration date is printed. The system will automatically validate the ID through the new deadline.

Holding a protection certificate is not mandatory for border crossing into Armenia, but if passport data has changed—due to loss, expiration, or damage—after the certificate was issued, individuals must apply for a new certificate reflecting the updated information. The new document is issued only based on a valid passport.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also advises that individuals may verify their certificate’s validity by scanning the QR code before attempting to cross the border.
