Harutyun Mesropyan: inflation in Armenia may exceed 10%

Inflation in Armenia may exceed 10%, according to management expert Harutyun Mesropyan.

“There’s no clear development strategy for Armenian agriculture sector, which is a reason behind our inability to forecast inflation. Agriculture Ministry reported 13.1% drop in agricultural production, with fruit and vegetable prices growing 3 times at the food market,” he stated.

Head of the parliamentary committee on social issues, Republican Party of Armenia member Hakob Hakobyan noted, for his part, that inflation cannot be foretold, being dependant on many factors. “Armenia has to provide itself with food reserves to be safe against sharp fluctuations,” he said.
