PACE Monitoring Committee rapporteurs on Armenia John Prescott and Axel Fischer, who are on a fact-finding visit to Armenia, met with representatives of the Armenian delegation to PACE.

Only a representative of the opposition Heritage parliamentary group did not participate in the meeting. Amendments to the RA Electoral Code, reforms in the RA Police, as well as amendments to the law on organization of gatherings, rallies and processions are in the focus of rapporteurs' attention, the RA NA press service reported.

Prescott and Fischer also met with the working group on drafting amendments to the RA Electoral Code.

Head of the group David Harutyunyan said that the bill on introduction of amendments to the code has been drafted and sent for the Venice Commission's conclusion. Besides, it has been put into circulation in the Armenian parliament.

Prescott noted for his part that in democratic processes opposition's role is as much important as the authorities' role. Both of them should facilitate the country's democratization, Prescott concluded.
