U.S. cannot interfere in Armenia’s internal policy, Marie Yovanovitch says

At news conference in Yerevan, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch commented on the possible launch of a dialogue between the country’s authorities and the opposition.

As Ms. Yovanovitch pointed out, though hailing the decrease of strain in Armenia’s internal policy, the U.S. cannot interfere in the internal processes of the country.

The U.S. supports principles, rather than political figures, she noted. At the same time she gave high assessment to the announcement of amnesty for Armenian opposition supporters, expressing hope that the process will continue into the future.
