Moscow discusses Karabakh peacekeepers “only with Baku”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia discusses conditions of the stay of its peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh only with the Azerbaijani side, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin has said in an interview with TASS.

“Taking into account the radical change in the situation in Karabakh, the conditions of stay of our peacekeepers are discussed only with the Azerbaijani side,” Galuzin said.

“It should be noted that our dialogue with partners is constructive. We resolve all issues that arise in a mutually acceptable manner. As for the extension of the powers of the Russian peacekeeping contingent after November 2025, this will depend on the situation in the region, the demand for their continued presence and relevant agreements with Baku.”

Russia has on multiple occasions blamed Armenia for recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan which it says led to Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh in September 2023 and the forced deportation of over 100,000 Armenians from their homeland.
