Training Center for Disabled Children to Open in Armenia in 2006
Yesterday Armenian Parliamentary Speaker Artur Baghdassaryan met with UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) Office in Armenia representative Sheldon Yett, reported the Press Service of the Armenian National Assembly. Representative of the Parliamentary Commission on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Heghine Bisharyan was present at the meeting. In the course of the meeting matters of restoration of pre-school institutions, cooperation opportunities in organizing special education were discussed. Mr. Baghdassaryan remarked that a law on pre-school education will soon be passed in Armenia. Mr. Yett said he was ready to provide assistance in the matter. In cooperation with the WB it will be necessary to solve the financial and curriculum issues, he remarked. The parties agreed to organize joint discussion over these issues. The Law on Special Education is already adopted to provide for accessible education for children in need of special education. It was noted that a training center for disabled children will open in Armenia in 2006 and an agreement is reached with the UNICEF for securing center efficient work.
