Armenia commemorates victims of 1999 parliament terror attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - The October 27, 2011 session of the Armenian government started with a minute of silence in commemoration of those who were killed in the terror attack 12 years ago today.

“This day will remain one of the darkest pages in Armenia’s history, when people who had an important role in the state building, were killed,” Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said.

On October 27, 1999, terrorists led by Nairi Hunanyan assassinated prominent public and political activists of Armenia: Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, parliament speaker Karen Demirchyan, vice speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, parliament members Michael Kotanyan, Armenak Armenakyan, Henrik Abramyan and Leonard Petrosyan.
