One of Tehran’s most recognizable landmarks, Azadi Tower, was illuminated in the colors of various national flags, including that of Armenia, as part of the pre-Nowruz festivities, the Armenian Embassy in Iran reported.
The tower also displayed a message in Armenian.
“The tower featured a Nowruz greeting in Armenian—‘Շնորհավոր Նովրուզ ’ (Happy Nowruz)—highlighting the universal significance of this ancient festival and the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Iranian peoples,” the statement read.
Nowruz, marking the Iranian New Year, is celebrated on the spring equinox, usually on or around March 21. The name translates to ‘new day.’
